Soap Care Tips

Handcrafted Soap Care:

Proper care will extend the life of your soap bar. Unlike mass-produced soap, our handcrafted soaps naturally contain glycerin, which is great for your skin. However, because of this, handcrafted soap can retain more moisture than other soaps. This glycerin attracts water and if left in standing water, the soap will break down quickly.

There are many options to extend the life of your handcrafted soap, either place it in a well-draining soap dish such as a slatted wood or bamboo soap dish as they wick water away from the soap or use of a "soap saver" that is an oval disk with raised nubs placed at the bottom of your favorite soap dish or by placing your soap bar in a "soap saver" bag to hang away from the stream of water. No matter which option you choose allowing the soap to dry properly between each use is optimal. Avoid fully submerging your soap in water. Remember: The drier it gets, the longer it will last.

Also, the use of a bath glove, wash cloth or hanging soap saver bag may offer an additional way to further extend the life of your soap bar. Note: Some soaps made to be exfoliating may need direct contact with the skin to achieve their purpose.

Store unused soap bars in a cool, dry area away from sunlight to prolong their life. For example a linen closet. Bonus: Your linens could wind up smelling like your soap!

For optimal quality use your new soap within one year of purchase.

Precautions:

We are in a world where allergens are becoming more numerous and we are not able to guarantee that our soaps and other products will be appropriate for your skin type. We recommend that you do an allergy test and use the soap on the inside of the forearm and hands for the first 24 to 48 hours. Avoid contact with eyes. For external use only. If irritation, redness or itching occurs, discontinue use.

*All of our products may have come in contact with allergens. If you have severe allergies, please contact us before using our products.

Be aware that some soaps have ingredients in them that may bother sensitive skin (cinnamon, peppermint, tea tree, etc.), and exfoliates can be scratchy.
